KIMS, Hubli and American University of Medical Sciences (AUMS), Seychelles are exploring the feasibility of a twinning programme, Minister for Medical Education, Mr Iqbal Ansari said in Bangalore on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, he said that in accordance with the programme about 100 students of AUMS will have their theoretical classes in Seychelles and for practical classes they will come to KIMS.

He said that KIMS has the necessary infrastructure and facilities for the six months practical studies of AUMS students.


The fees to be charged per student will be finalised and placed before the Cabinet, he added.

New medical colleges

Mr Ansari said that work on buildings for the new medical colleges at Mandya, Belgaum, Hassan, Bidar and Raichur was in progress and was likely to be completed by December this year.

Each of these colleges were sanctioned Rs 5 crore in the first phase.

HC bench

Regarding the Circuit Bench, he said that people of Koppal, preferred to come under the jurisdiction of Dharwad bench rather than Gulbarga as it was more convenient.
