HUBLI: The fear of becoming victims of asthma and other respiratory-related disease is haunting the people of Hubli-Dharwad.

Twin cities have become prone to all such due to dust.

Number of cases with symptoms of dust-related allergies are on the rise in all most all private and government hospitals for the past few weeks.

When the corporation had launched anti-encroachment drive all stood by the corporation.

But now they are venting their ire over the corporation for not taking any measures to make the people free from the dust problem.

Rains that lashed the city continuously for more than two weeks have contributed a lot in defacing most of the roads.

Many of the roads which had been asphalted and repaired were damaged overnight after the heavy rains exposing the low quality works executed by the authorities concerned.

As a result of bad roads and uncleared debris of demolished constructions, city wearing a look of ‘dust bowl’ a place where topsoil is blown away by dust storms during drought.

Most of the roads are littered with potholes. Many roads are covered under thick dry dust.

When vehicles pass on such roads dust hovers all over the area causing dust allergies to people.

People cover their faces with napkins to protect themselves from dust allergies while move on these roads.

Because of the dust people become vulnerable to asthma and other diseases.

People are daubed with dust when they pass through KC circle, Basava van, old bus terminus road, station road, Durgad Bail road, CBT, Gouli Galli, Gokul Road etc in Hubli and Azad upavan road, Vijay road, Saundatti road, Regal circle and other roads in Dharwad.

If authorities concerned failed to find a solution to the problem, people will get afflicted with respiratory related diseases.
