HUBLI: The fear of asthma, respiratory-related ailments and other allergies is haunting the people of the twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad, which are a haven for its spread due to the dust everywhere.
The number of cases with symptoms of dust-related allergies are increasing in almost all private and government hospitals.
When the Corporation launched an anti-encroachment drive to remove encroached properties, the people stood by the HDMC.
Now, they are venting their ire at the authorities for not taking any measures to clean the city.
Incessant rains that lashed the city for more than two weeks has compounded the problem.
Many city roads which had been asphalted and repaired, were ruined overnight, exposing the inferior work executed.
As a result of uncleared debris of demolished constructions, the city looks like it has been ravaged by dust storms.
Most roads are littered with potholes, and now covered with thick layers of dust. The sight of people masking their faces is common.
