HUBLI: Members of Sangeeth Natak Academy, New Delhi, have shot a documentary film on noted Hindustani vocalist Dr. Gangubai Hangal at her residence in Deshpandenagar on Monday.

A crew of 14 members of the Academy had come to the city to meet Gangubai to make a documentary on her life. They interviewed Dr. Hangal for more than an hour. They shot every important aspect of her life, from how she entered into the field of classical music, the challenges and her opinion on modern music and eminent musicians.

The Museum of Indian Classical Music started by Gangubai Hangal's grandson Manoj Hangal has also been shot for the documentary. The crewmembers lauded the services of Hangal Music foundation, which started the museum. They certified it as a rare museum.

Talking to this website’s newspaper Raju Das, programme officer of the Academy said that the main purpose of shooting this documentary on Dr. Gangubai Hangal was to preserve it in the archival section of the academy, to provide information of the achievements of such eminent artistes to the people.Jayaprakash Bengeri, Deputy Secretary, Documentation of Academy, Rajat Ganguli, documentation officer and others were part of the crew.
