Hon.Commissioner's response - 24X7 Water project

Dear Friends,
Thanks to Nagesh and other friends for the concern. As I understand, this project will be a boon to the twin cities. The success of this project will lead to complete coverage of the city in phases, funded by WB or ADB. They are keenly watching the progress.
If we allow some politically motivated, ill informed people to scuttle it, then it will be most unfortunate. I am also pained to note that while people in Hubli, Belgaum and Gulbarga have welcomed the project, it is only in Dharwad, that there is opposition! I have felt this type of negativism more in Dharwad. I don't know why!
I should admit that had I involved myself in this project from starting, this communication gap would not have arisen. But due to other priorities I could take this up only now.
We have made everything very transparent, made copies of the agreement available to all the people who are opposing this. We also have made them member of the 'project steering group',so that they can run it the way they like. In the 'tariff committee' also we are inviting 66% participation from citizens! What more we can do..??! Please tell us!
I was shocked to observe the behavior of some citizens, demanding that:
1. 'Commissioner should come to our colony and speak, we wont go to HDMC office' and when I attended the meeting at the locality they didn't have the patience to hear! It was like fish market!
2. 'If commissioner can't come for meeting, we will boycott the meeting'
Such types of utterances are not befitting of responsible citizens. I hold the citizens of Dharwad in high regard and it was surprising to me, if not shocking!
Kindly ask if you have anything in mind. We are hear to respond to citizens.
