HUBLI: Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar said that steps have been taken to provide 100 acres to IT companies in Hubli-Dharwad, and the government will soon announce a package.

Chairing a meeting attended by MP Prahlad Joshi, M S Srikar, Deputy Commissioner, P Manivannan, HDMC Commissioner and other officers, Shettar said that Amargol APMC yard, land belonging to the KIADB at Rayapur, Sutagatti, Gamanagatti and land owned by HDMC in the twin cities would be considered to serve the need of IT companies.

Minister disclosed that two major and seven small-scale IT companies have come forward to set up their firms in Hubli-Dharwad.

The government would soon arrive at a decision to fix the price of land and concessions to attract IT companies to the twin cities. A meeting will be held with IT bigwigs next month to discuss their role in making Hubli, an IT destination after Bangalore in the State, he added.

He said a website comprising IT potentials had been launched and another would be launched soon to provide all the information about infrastructure available for IT companies in Hubli-Dharwad. The government had already extended all the cooperation required for the Tatas in Dharwad to set up a small car manufacturing unit and the same treatment would be given to IT companies, he added.
