KCCI platinum jubilee celebrations on Monday

HUBLI: N. Dharam Singh, Chief Minister, and M.P. Prakash, Deputy Chief Minister, will take part in the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) here on Monday.

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Shankaranna Munavalli, KCCI president, said M.V. Rajashekaran, Union Minister of State for Planning, and other State Ministers will take part in the programme.

Mr. Munavalli said the KCCI, which was founded by late Murugayya Swami Jungin, in 1928 at Bagalkot, was initially known as Vanika Sangha. Since its establishment it has engaged in various programmes aimed at creating awareness among businessmen and merchants about trade-related issues.

Apart from conducting activities related to trade and commerce, the Chamber has associated itself with various movements, agitations and endeavours aimed at the development of North Karnataka, he said.

Mr. Munavalli said the Chamber has 3,000 members with 110 associations in 24 districts of the State. The Chamber is a member of the Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce.

During the platinum jubilee celebrations, which will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister, three entrepreneurs will be felicitated.
