DHARWAD: Central Tobacco Research Institute, Rajahmundry, and University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad will organise a two-day 17th tobacco workshop of ‘All India Network Research Project on Tobacco’ from Thursday at New auditorium, UAS, Dharwad.

Various key research projects being conducted on tobacco during 2003-04 and 2004-05 and their impact and results will be discussed by eminent researchers and scientists during the two-day workshop.

Besides, measures to be followed to reduce the impact on the health of common man by consuming tobacco, advantages of tobacco, tobacco based crop pattern and other alternate crop system will be discussed.

Dr M N Sheelavantar, Vice Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bangalore, will inaugurate the workshop and deliver the keynote address.

Dr K C Jain, Assistant Director General (CC), ICAR, New Delhi, will be the guest and Dr S A Patil, Vice Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad will preside over the function.

Dr S Lingappa, Director of Research UAS, Dharwad, Dr K Deo Singh, Director, CTRI, Dr R R Hanchinal, ADR, Agricultural university, Dharwad and more than 150 scientists, extensions officers and tobacco growers will participate, according to a press release.
