Advani to open SC, ST meet

HUBLI: The objective of the convention of the people belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and slum-dwellers on October 28 at the Palace Grounds in Bangalore is to create awareness among the exploited class, Danappa Kattimani, general secretary of State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Caste Morcha, said here on Saturday.
Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Kattimani and R. Thimmaiah, vice-president of the unit, said the convention is to clear the confusion among the people of the exploited class after similar conventions were organised by various parties under various banners.
The BJP President L.K. Advani will inaugurate the convention, in which several Dalit leaders of the party will participate, they said.
Preparatory meetings in the districts are being organised by the Morcha and steps are being taken to strengthen the organisation, Mr. Kattimani said.
