Government urged to institute Nanjundappa award

DHARWAD: Patil Puttappa, veteran journalist, has urged the State government to institute awards in the name of the late Dr D M Nanjundappa.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Dr D M Nanjundappa memorial programme organised at Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangh here recently.

He said Nanjudappa had shown a new direction on the overall development of north Karnataka.

To recognise the services of such a person, the government should institute awards named after him, he said.

The government should put in sincere efforts to implement the recommendations of Dr Nanjundappa committee, he said.

Chennaveer Kanavi,poet, said the government should implement the report of Nanjundappa committee as it was essential for the overall development of this region, he said.

He asked the people not to vote for leaders and ministers who failed to implement the recommendations in toto.

Former MP Vijay Sankeshwar attributed the present sorry state of north Karantaka region to the people’s apathy towards its development.

He advised people to stop approaching ministers or leaders to get their problems solved but to question them for their failure to solve the problems of this region.

M P Ishwarappa,Dr M C Kodli, Dr R V Dadibhavi, Mohan Nagammanavar, Veena Kulkarni and others were present.
