DHARWAD: An action plan has been prepared to develop the tourist spots of the district at a cost of Rs 1.74 crore, said Deputy Commissioner M S Srikar.

Chairing a meeting of the Tourism Committee at the deputy commissioner’s office here on Saturday, Srikar told the officers to submit the plan to the State Tourism department for approval. The proposal intended to provide infrastructure needed for attracting tourists to the acclaimed tourist hubs of the district viz Unkal lake, Indira Glass House, Bhavani Shankar temple and Chandra Mouleshwar temple of Hubli, K C Park, Someshwar temple and Nuggikeri Hanumantha temple of Dharwad,

Rajisaheb Durga of Yamanur, Shambhulinga temple of Kundagol, Kalmeshwar temple at Kamadhenu village of Kalaghatagi, Basavanna temple of Tambur and Amrutheshar temple of Annigeri, he added.

He said besides this, the proposal had incorporated plans to construct lavatories, drinking water sheds and lighting arrangements at the said spots.

Kelageri Lake: Srikar said an action plan for a face-lift of the century old Kelageri lake was being prepared and the government had released Rs 10 lakh for the same.

The action plan would include boating facility, construction of resorts and providing other basic amenities, he added.

C M Noor Mansur, HQA, K H Kukanur, joint commissioner, HDMC, K H Channur, Kannada and Cultural department, Krishnaji Chavan of PWD and Hiremath of Tourism department were present.
