HUBLI: Chief Minister Dharam Singh has said that State Government was not meting out any step motherly treatment to the Hubli-Dharwad.

Speaking to reporters in Hubli on Monday Chief Minister Dharam Singh said that government was making all out efforts to develop twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad, on priority basis.

Replying to a question, he ruled out delay in starting the works on the much- awaited third phase of Malaprabha Drinking Water Project and said that the meeting will soon be held with the financial secretary to overcome the hurdles in implementation of the project.

He said that the State Government had apprised the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of the Stay order brought out by Goa government on initiating works on linking Kalasa-Banduri Nalas to Malaprabha to solve drinking water problems faced by Hubli-Dharwad.

All party delegation and the State government was assured by the Prime Minister that the Goa government will be convinced to vacate the stay order to facilitate the State government to start works on this project.

“We are planning to meet the Union Water Resources minister to discuss this issue and to convince him for pending clearance to begin works on this project shortly,” he added.

He said that the State government had also pressurised the Central government and the Disaster Management Committee chairman Sharad Pawar to provide relief fund to rehabilitate the people affected floods in the State on line of Tsunami relief fund.

District in charge Minister S R Morey and H K Patil, Law and Parliamentary affairs Ministers were present.
