HUBLI: Shankranna I Munavalli, President, Karnatak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has called upon the librarians to focus on overcoming their deficiency to provide better services to the students.

He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop on ‘Computerisation of college libraries and Digital Library’ organised by Association of librarians of colleges of Karnatak University at P C Jabin College here on Sunday.

He advised the librarians to make best use of the facilities provided by the management committee to upgrade the knowledge of students and to provide them better educational services.

Speaking on the occasion, S L Sangam, Chairman, Department of Library and Information science, KUD said due to the globalisation and revolution in the progress of Information Technology, the responsibility of the librarians has increased.

By adopting the modern facilities, librarians should prepare themselves to provide valuable services to the students and the society, he added.

Explaining the importance of Digital libraries, he said facilities should be provided in all libraries, for the preservation of even small and petty matters around the world.

Principal Dr D M Kotturshettar spoke.

Mahesh D Horakeri, President, Karnatak State College librarians Association, presided over the function.
