DHARWAD: Balu Doraiswamy, managing director, Hewlett-Packard India, has stressed the need to create infrastructure and greater economic zones in North Karnataka as there are ample opportunities for the growth of IT based technology in the region.

Addressing the students of SDM College of Engineering and Technology here on Wednesday, he said ‘R and D to BPO to call centres to global series delivery to leadership in the domestic market’ was the key factor to success in the industry.

Doraiswamy highlighted on the importance of synergy between industry, academia and collaborative partnerships, which were the key to the success of economic growth of North Karnataka.

He urged the alumni of the various institutes to come forward and contribute to the growth of North Karnataka, by extending their professional expertise to the entrepreneurs.

He advised the students to develop communication skills, ability to understand, quick grasping, leadership qualities, team spirit, etc., as additional qualities to build their career.

He stressed on opportunities for the young professionals in the modern technology arena. He elaborated on the employment opportunities in IT services, production, technology, etc.

Dr S M Dhume, vice-chairman of BIC, spoke on the genesis and objectives of BIC. Dr M S Subhash of Kousali Management Institute, KUD, was present on the occasion. Principal, Dr H V Sudhaker Nayak presided over the function. The function started with an invocation by Shilpa Chansdu and Manasa Nayak compered.
