DHARWAD: The third ‘Kosmos Cup’ inter-schools cricket tournament will commences under the joint auspices of Kosmos Club and Cricket Club of Karnataka (CCK) at the R N Shetty Stadium Dharwad from Wednesday.

In all 10 teams of the twin-cities including the reigning champions K E Board’s High School, Malmaddi, Dharwad and runner-up Lion’s English Medium High School, Hubli are participating in this tournament which is recognised by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Bangalore.

The tournament will be played on the knock-out basis till the semi finals and the four top teams will fight in the super-league starting on October 12. Final, which will be of 45 overs-a-side is scheduled on October 16.

Players of both the winners and the runner-up teams will receive individual prizes apart from the special prizes for the most outstanding individual performances in the tournament.

Umpires of the Hubli-Dharwad Cricket Umpires Association (HDCUA) will officiate all the matches.

V D Kamaraddi, the president of the Kosmos Club, will inaugurate the tournament at 10 am on Wednesday, while P H Neeralakeri, president of CCK will be the guest of honour.

Pavan English Medium High School, Dharwad will take on St Michael’s High School, Hubli in the inaugural fixture.
