Metered water billing in Hubli-Dharwad
The Times of India

Hubli: Come January, drinking water supply in Hubli-Dharwad will be metered except at tail-end localities where the pressure is very low at present. Here the consumers will continue to be billed at the prevailing flat rate.

Now that water is supplied once in three days in most areas of the twin cities, the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWS&DB) has launched a campaign for installation of water meters.

KUWS&DB chief engineer for north Karnataka M Ravindra Bhat told The Times of India there was enough storage in the Malaprabha and Neerasagar reservoirs to sustain the present water distribution cycle past the next monsoon.

The metered water supply would be billed at the rate of Rs 5.80 per 1,000 litres for domestic, Rs 10.60 per 1,000 litres for non-domestic and Rs 23.20 per 1,000 litres for commercial connections.
